Description
WHY THIS SUBJECT? I wanted to focus on pollution, since it is something that directly affects us both short-term and long-term. We are ruining our only earth, and we're so close to doing irreversible damage. There needs to be an end to this.
WHAT SHOULD WE KNOW ABOUT THE WORK? This is a traditional and digital mixed-media work. It features a squirrel holding an acorn with a biohazard symbol, the polluted skyline of Chicago, deforestation logs, fire, garbage bags, and a heavily polluted river.
WHAT WAS YOUR PROCESS? The illustration was drawn in pencil, outlined with an artist pen, and colored in with Copic markers. I photographed it, erased the paper background in Adobe Photoshop, added text, and added a biohazard symbol on the acorn.
