We Must Persevere
TransAfrica
A brochure produced by TransAfrica explaining details about TransAfrica's mission, purpose, and history with information about becoming a member.
The Black Forum on Foreign Affairs was formed in 1975 as a precursor to TransAfrica, which was conceived on September 25, 1976 by the Congressional Black Caucus at the Black Leadership Conference on Africa. Its purpose was to research and educate United States policymakers on African and Caribbean regions in order to advocate for global justice. On July 1, 1977, TransAfrica was formally incorporated with Randall Robinson as its first Director. Additionally, TransAfrica was a founding member of the Free South Africa Movement. The documents below were retained by Chicagoans who participated in TransAfrica. For more materials related to TransAfrica, the African Activist Archive.
