As a school focused on the arts of speech and elocution, the Columbia College of Expression had been offering courses on these subjects since its inception. By 1916, a Department of Public Speaking had been established with R. E. Pattison Kline as its Dean and instructor.The materials in this series were used to instruct students about Effective Public Speaking practices, principles, history, and theory.
